about

Twentieth Century new wave and prog rock meets Twenty-First century retrowave.

A couple years back Ikutaro Kakehashi the founder of Roland died. While I never knew the man, over the years I have had and used many of the instruments he designed. In fact, ever since my first high-school music composition class1988 Roland synthesizers have been my favourite instruments to collect and play.

This track features vintage Roland gear and was composed as an homage to the brilliant designer who started it all.

Featured instruments:

TR-707 Rhythm Composer
JUNO-6 & Juno-106 Polyphonic Synthesizers
SH-2000 Mono Synthesizer
HC-2 Hand Clapper
KM-4 Instrument Mixer

Recorded during a live jam session. No DAW. No Post-Production.

about

lo-fi ROBOT Boy British Columbia

lo-fi ROBOT Boy makes music using (mostly) 80s keyboards, synths, and drum machines collected from flea markets, yard sales, and the dusty back rooms of music shops. Everything has knobs, sliders & smells like ozone.

VSTs and blue LEDs be damned!
